Nicholas Chow, the chairman of Asian Arts at Sotheby's, has used his access to some of the most eccentric Asian collectors in a remarkably creative way. Such is the case with this photobook; ‘Chris Hall’.
Chris Hall, a somewhat shy accountant, is an eccentric collector who probably owns the most important collection of Chinese Imperial Silk Robes. Over the 40 years of his collecting life, he has amassed more than 1000 pieces, including ritual dance robes, imperial badges, dragon robes, bound-foot shoes and other textile-related items.
Chow's book gives an intimate tour around Hall's house, featuring his eclectic collection in a unique whimsial way also including his lion toilet, ivory flip-flops and stone baby-minder.
The book, "Chris Hall" by Nicolas Chow, is a rare find and only available at Blue Lotus Gallery, both in-gallery and online.
