"Shooting Hoops" is a visual exploration of Hong Kong's basketball courts. Bell was inspired by the city's density and the unique integration of recreational spaces into the urban landscape. Beginning in 2019, he embarked on a quest to document all 2,549 basketball courts across Hong Kong, using Google Maps and drone photography to navigate the city's diverse topography. Over 140 days, he successfully captured all 2,549 courts, highlighting their colorful designs and their relationship with the city’s vertical architecture.

The project culminated in a book that organizes the courts by district, features full-size spreads of the most visually striking courts, and offers reflections on urban exploration and the artistic interplay between space and sport. By reimagining an ordinary urban feature, Bell captures a fresh perspective on Hong Kong, transforming its basketball courts into a celebration of design and providing a unique snapshot of the city's diverse topography.
