This exhibition at Fotografiska Shanghai places Fan Ho’s work in the wider context of Hong Kong’s Salon photography movement, offering a rare opportunity to see his photographs alongside those of his contemporaries. By the 1950s and 1960s, Hong Kong had become a major centre of salon photography, with a rich network of clubs, competitions, and publications shaping a distinctive visual culture.
What makes this presentation especially remarkable is the number of vintage works on view by photographers of this generation — a rare chance to encounter these prints together and to see Fan Ho’s work within the milieu from which it emerged.
The exhibition will continue at Fotografiska Shenzhen in spring 2027.
