Since moving to Kennedy Town in 2016, Pier has frequently visited the nearby Western District Public Cargo Working Area in Hong Kong. Originally a hub for shipping and trading, this area has transformed into one of Hong Kong's premier public spaces. Affectionately known as the Instagrampier, it served as a vibrant locale for fishing, exercising, dog walking, relaxation, sunset watching, and photography—both scenic and selfies. However, in 2020, the government fenced off the area, closing it to local residents
Like many Hong Kong residents living in compact spaces, Pier visited the Pier daily to claim his place in the open air, camera in hand. During these visits, he observed a fascinating cycle of repetition: new faces appear while familiar ones return, yet many photos shared on Instagram feature the same poses in the same spots, echoing the actions of those before them. This cycle of creation and re-creation, driven by Instagram, leads to a constant repetition of poses and scenarios performed by an endless array of interchangeable actors.
