Submit Your Work to Blue Lotus Gallery

We are always on the lookout for exceptional talent, but with the volume of requests we receive daily, we can only accept a limited number of new artists each year. To safeguard our time and ensure we focus on meaningful collaborations, we have established the following submission guidelines. Please read carefully before submitting your work.

What We’re Looking For

Blue Lotus Gallery specializes in photography that tells visual stories exploring Asian identity and heritage, with a particular focus on Hong Kong. Before submitting your portfolio, ask yourself:

  • Does your work align with our theme?
Our gallery focuses on photography that delves into cultural identity, heritage, and storytelling.

  • Is your work photography?
We do not accept submissions in any medium other than photography.

  • Is your work original and unique?
We are looking for work with a distinctive angle, a compelling story, and a unique visual expression. Travel snapshots, sunsets, and generic Instagram-style photos are not what we’re looking for.

For inspiration, we encourage you to explore the works of the artists we represent. Visit: www.bluelotus-gallery.com

Options to Submit Your Work, we offer three ways to share your portfolio with us:

1. Submit via Email

Send us a link to your portfolio or work samples to sarah@bluelotus-gallery.com

Please ensure your submission includes the following:

  • A concise artist statement or description of your work.

  • A link to your portfolio or website

Due to the high volume of submissions, we regret that we can only reply to selected artists. If you don’t hear from us, it means your work wasn’t a fit for our gallery at this time.

2. Book a Portfolio Review

Portfolio and Project Review

HK$1,200.00

Photography has become incredibly accessible: Thanks to advanced digital cameras and smartphones, it’s become a lot easier to take a good photo. Because of that, it’s become more important than ever to contextualize your shots. What matters most today is how the images work together. As per Martin Parr: ‘the sum, by definition, is greater than the part’. Reviewing your portfolio means considering all of your work together both to see how it is perceived and how it is put together in the first place.

For in-depth feedback, you may book a 90-minute portfolio review with us for HK$1200.

  • This session includes a detailed critique and advice on how to refine your work for galleries.

3. Sign Up for a Sharing Session

Throw it in the group…

Once a month, a small but mighty group of photographers, editors, and other photo-loving professionals gathers to discuss 3-4 projects.

Got a project you’d like to share? Complete the form to snag an invite to our next session.

This is a fantastic chance to meet our team and get some constructive (and friendly) feedback.

The next sharing session is set for Wednesday, 30 April 2025, 7-10pm. To reserve your spot.

Spaces are limited, so pre-registration is a must!

Completely free! (But let’s be honest—it’s hard to review great work on an empty stomach. Drinks and snacks to share are always appreciated!)

Important Notes

  • Unsolicited Visits: We love meeting passionate artists, but please don’t just pop into the gallery unannounced expecting an instant portfolio review. While we’d love to chat, but we’d never get any work done if we did! Let’s plan ahead and make it a proper conversation. 😊

  • Unsolicited Materials: If you feel inspired to send us books, prints, or other materials, that’s okay—but please know that what arrives at our door will likely stay with us (or be lovingly discarded). Unfortunately, we’re not able to ship things back, so send only what you’re comfortable parting with! 📦😊

  • Response Time: We will only contact artists whose work fits our gallery’s vision. Your understanding is appreciated.

  • Please Respect Our Time: Please do not submit multiple times or follow up excessively.
